Styling Your Wedding Dress |
|
So, you've found your dream dress and the shop keeper has told you to get your underwear and shoes ready for your first fitting - but where do you start?....
First of all decide whether you want lingerie that is simply for show, when you take your dress off, or whether you want it to work for you and help to define and/or hide certain parts of your body.
If you want something pretty then simply visit our Wedding Day section and browse through the lovely bras and basques on offer, particularly special is the Luxurious Bride range of silk underwear and the Mariee range.
If, however you need some help with using lingerie to perform a function then please read on.
Strapless Dresses & the Bust
If you are small busted a strapless dress can have the effect of flattening you out and reducing your bust contours. To keep your bust shape go for a padded, or uplifting bra and consider also using ENHANCERS to maintain your shape when the dress is fitted.
If you are larger in the bust, then support is going to be your main concern. While many dresses have in-built corsets, it can still be useful to have an independent, supportive bra in order to keep your bust lifted and looking shapely.
If you find that when wearing your usual bra size your bust seems to be lower than usual, then try a smaller band size. This can help to keep the bra fixed in place, especially as you cannot rely on the support of the shoulder straps. However, make sure it is not too tight that it creates a red ring around your body!
Waist Definition
If you are small busted, creating a waist line will help to emphasise your bust. Proper boned CORSETS are great at pulling in the waist and giving it definition. Also make sure your dress also focuses attention on the waist, rather than the bust.
Low Back & Low Front Dresses
Following on from red carpet fashion there is an increasing trend for wedding dresses with low draping backs and plunging fronts.
LINGERIE TAPE is vital when wearing these styles, as you will be the focus of attention all day and must feel secure and safe in your dress.
To create the plunge, whether it is at the front or the back the dress is likley to have shoulder straps which means you can wear a bra using shoulder straps for support. If the dress straps are quite thin, or see through then use CLEAR BRA STRAPS to minimise them being seen.
